Characteristics of Mui Wo

Mui wo has different Characteristics due to food and buildings. The culture of Mui wo is European and Chinese. Chinese Characteristics are found on the streets of the Rural committee road and Mui wo Chung Hau street too. It has old Chinese buildings and shops. On the beach there are hotels that have characteristics of European culture.

Mui wo Food market has Chinese Characteristics
This Inn has Roman Statues which show European Characteristics

Overnight stay

The overnight stay at Mui wo would be in the Mui Wo Inn as it is very convenient as it is only a 2 min walk to the beach. This hotel we are cooperating with is very laid back and very relaxing as the view from each of the rooms have an excellant view of the ocean and the beach. The Mui Wo Inn is very relaxing as you can hear the waves of the sea crashing into the rocks.

We are cooperating with the Mui Wo Inn so we will be renovating this hotel making it much more spacious and lighter. We also have a water sport program going on and is also very convenient to just walk over to the beach and do some water sports , our program will include modern water sports such as kayaking, wind surfing and dinghy boat sailing. Our water sport equipment is the most high quality for safety and usability.

USP (Unique Selling Point)

We are renovating a hotel in Mui Wo. The Mui Wo Inn. We are renovating this hotel because it needs a nice face lift.
We are going to cooperate with this hotel because the hotel is in a very good location. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach but still far enough away, in a little cove that the hotel is always quite and relaxing.

We are using this hotel as a unique Mui Wo structure. The hotel in very laid back. This is a steriotypical Mui Wo living style. We are still sticking to this idea when we renovate it. The hotel is going to be very spacious and light.

The hotel will also be based of significant Mui Wo structures such as the food market and the streets. The hotel will use little things such as an arch towards a temple or a significant signboard. These items will be used in the hotel, mixed with modern furnishings to create a back and forth time warp.

The hotel will be laid out like the streets of Mui Wo. The floor, even though it is indoors, will be rough concrete such as the streets. The restaurant will look similar to a typical Mui Wo fish restaurants with a modern twist. The usual glass fish tanks for fresh fish will be there. Also the open sea view and the salty air. The hotel will also have different rooms on the side of the main lobby/hallway. The rooms will be things like a small convenience store and a small cooked food market that will sell things such as waffels and egg puffs. There will also be things such as a small Mui Wo style pottery store and a craft store selling things such as handmade bracelets, model fishnets and fishing equipment.

Another unique selling point is our water sport program. The water sports will include traditional Mui Wo practices such as dragon boat racing and fish boat maneuvering.  The program will also include modern water sports such as kayaking, wind surfing and dinghy boat sailing. Our water sport equipment is the most high quality in safety and usability.

Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development kids

There are various definitions and debates to the definition of sustainability among leaders in the field. However in general, they all have to do with:
  • The concept of living within our limits
  • Understanding the interconnections among economies, society, and the environment
  • Providing equitable distribution of resources and opportunities

Sustainable development, according to one definition, demands that we seek ways of living, working and being that enable all people of the world to lead healthy, fulfilling, and economically secure lives without destroying the environment and without endangering the future social welfare of people and the planet.

Sustainable DevelopmentSustainable development, according to the World Commission on Environment and Development, is :-
"development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." ["Our Common Future", 1987]
In Hong Kong, the Chief Executive made it clear in his 1999 Policy Address our endeavour to building Hong Kong into a world-class city and making Hong Kong a clean, comfortable and pleasant home would require a fundamental change of mindset. Every citizen, every business, every Government Department and Bureau needs to start working in partnership to achieve sustainable development. In simple terms, sustainable development for Hong Kong means:
finding ways to increase prosperity and improve the quality of life while reducing overall pollution and waste;
meeting our own needs and aspirations without doing damage to the prospects of future generations; and
reducing the environmental burden we put on our neighbours and helping to preserve common resources. ("1999 Policy Address")
In other words, the concept of sustainable development requires a change of mindset to bring about full integration of the needs for economic and social development with that to conserve the environment. It also requires the Government and all sectors of the community to work hand in hand in order to achieve a sustainable future for Hong Kong.
